RAIL TRAVEL

I've divided the rail section into six lists...

Interesting/Useful Blogs

Trains on the Brain - Jools Stone's enthusiastic blog on rail travel. Also check out Jools' new venture Railway Stays which focuses on glamorous railway hotels and luxury trains.

Sophie on Track - Sophie Collard's rail news and features blog.

Hidden Europe - European rail travel features large in Nicky Gardner & Susanne Kries' online travel ezine.

The Man in Seat 61 - Not so much a blog, more a rail resource. Mark Smith's popular site has become a well respected brand in its own right, covering the intricacies of rail travel in Europe and Asia.

Interesting/Useful Blog Posts

Amtrak Etiquette and Advice for Sleeping Car Passengers - Sherry Laskin's guide to taking the sleeper in the USA.

#IronRoute Challenge- Abigail King uses an Interrail pass to travel through Eastern Europe from Istanbul to Berlin (There are several posts clustered under the #IronRoute tag).

Ultimate Train Challenge - Michael Hodson organised a competitive rail blog challenge in 2011, from Lisbon to Saigon. This site is supposed to aggregate their experiences but to find most of their posts you'll have to search for the #utc11 hashtag on the participants' own blogs.
