Notes

  • There are concerns that some species, such as the Stingrays of the Cayman Islands are being badly affected by continuous contact with inquisitive humans.
  • After the termination of the Bengtsfors-Årjäng train service in 1985, the trolleys used by track inspectors were transformed into one of Sweden's most fascinating attractions. Visitors to the Dal Västra Värmlands Järnväg (Railroad), are designated their own three-wheeled bicycle trolley to pedal the entire 52 km from Bengtsfors to Årjäng. The sensation of pedalling off into the wilderness of Dalsland (on Sweden's west coast) is special - for long stretches of track you are miles away from crowds and busy roads, your only companions elk, deer and birds of the forest. With campsites and small villages along the way, there is no shortage of accommodation.
