LIST: SPECIAL PLACES TO STAY IN ITALY

These are hotels, auberges, masseria, resorts, B&Bs and other 'accommodations' in Italy that I have come across and think are worth checking out.

NB. You may not enjoy the same level of financial security and protection if things go wrong when you book directly with an overseas company.

Sextantio Santo Stefano di Sessanio An "Auberge Diffuso" - an inn that's scattered about a bit. Sextantio is the result of a major restoration project, turning several derelict 16th-century houses in a hilltop village in the Apennines into stylish accommodation.

Borgo Egnazia Savelletri di Fasano New (2010) luxury family resort on a grand scale with spa and 18-hole golf course. There's the main hotel (63 rooms), 72 Apulian 1-2 bedroom townhouses, and 25 3-bedroom villas.
Masseria Cimino Savelletri di Fasano Neighbour to Borgo Egnazia (above) and the San Domenico golf course. A fortified 18-century farmhouse, now a chic 'agri-tourismo'inn with 15 rooms.
